An Introduction to Design Management

My Approach to Design

In my current course, Design Management, I mainly learn how creative processes can be seen as strategies that work towards deeply understanding the consumer's wants - therefore aiming to produce something valuable and meaningful. I firmly believe that meaningful design is one of our most valuable tools.

Meaningful design has one common starting point: design research. My projects might have different design backgrounds; however, they were all born from human (or environmental) - centred research techniques that helped me find the right problem to discuss and work towards solutions. They enable me, the designer, to structure conversations that can help me better understand and empathize with people. Therefore, these methods result in helping designers to have the right conversations at the right time.

After exploring different fields of design, I realized my main areas of interest are: Research and strategy design, spatial design, experience design and service design - and I try to skew my projects towards these areas.
Integrative Research

I conduct qualitative research that contributes to a humane analysis of the system product - market - consumer, accurately framing the problem and bringing strong solutions.

Co-design
I facilitate collaboration and problem-solving activities via design thinking methods (wireframes, journey maps, service blueprints...), attaining multi-perspective projects and solutions of high relevancy.

Design Strategy

I combine human-centred viewpoints with business methodologies to design a holistic strategy of market placement and branding.

That creative +
Design is about creating something new, or making something become better than it is. It is about seeking improvement in places that pure business would not. That's when pure innovation is made.

Lost in Translation, Found in Collaboration
